LOST IN PRAYER: 

Doubling down on our ambition

Following the first playtest, we’ve seen contradicting signals.

  • Some players spent hundreds of hours in the playtest, understanding that mastery takes time, and had fun.
  • Many players registered to playtest but never participated.
  • Others started the playtest but dropped off quickly due to balancing issues and the lack of a player’s goal.

So in its current shape, the game is not resonating with a lot of the players we’re trying to reach.

While the majority of studios would have canceled the game we see this as a necessity to make Lost In Prayer better.

We know we’ll need more time to achieve it. So we decided to cancel the second playtest to transform the game radically.

OUTWARD 2:

Before we shared some exciting gameplay, we shared how we make stuff in Outward. It starts with inspirations, greyboxes, colorful pieces of concept art and then we decide on a final iteration.

We also showed comparison of what the Outward world looks like in Unity vs. what we can now achieve in Unreal, after we switched engine.

Then, we went to the amazing “DEV GYM” in Outward 2. A convenient place where we can showcase all equipment and enemies in the game so far to try-out builds and flex our muscles. Every modder’s wet dream.

Outward is coming to the Nintendo Switch!

Outward, the open-world fantasy role-playing game developed by Nine Dots Studio, is coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2024. 

The Switch release is the culmination of months of hard work between Nine Dots Studio and Sneaky Box, the developer brought on board to lead the efforts to port the game to the Switch. 

“Getting Outward onto the Switch was always a dream for us,” said Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, CEO and creative director of Nine Dots Studio. “I’ll be quite honest, I had my doubts that a Switch version was even possible.” 

Boucher-Vidal pointed to technical limitations fuelling his doubt. 

“Outward is a big game that was made in such a weird context and has some very specific technical limitations,” Boucher-Vidal said.  

“The team at Sneaky Box really pulled a rabbit out of the hat with this port. I’m happy that there will be one more way to play our game, and with devices like the Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch, it’s quite fitting that our game is now travel-friendly.” 

Outward is an RPG set in the world of Aurai where you take on the role of an ordinary adventurer defending themselves against threatening creatures, braving hazardous environmental conditions, and keeping healthy and hydrated. 

Your journey will take you through cities and dangerous hidden dungeons crawling with formidable enemies as you travel across the untamed wilderness. 

The Definitive Edition contains the base game, along with two DLC’s, “Three Brothers” and “The Soroboreans.”

Those include but aren’t limited to minor bug fixing in the engine, simple integration of assets, etc. No previous experience is required, but a will to learn is expected.

Requirements

  • Good gaming skills
  • Deep knowledge of video games and the game industry
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Ability to discern unintended game behaviors
  • High degree of patience and focus

Nous recherchons un.e artiste FX pour qu’il se joigne à notre équipe. Nous utilisons l’engin Unity pour nos projets actuels mais nous pourrions changer d’engin dans le futur. L’expérience professionnelle est un atout mais n’est pas une nécessité. L’artiste FX de ce projet travaillera sur deux projets.

Prérequis

  • 3 ans d’études dans le domaine
  • Expérience et connaître le système de VFX d’Unity
  • Produire ses propres textures
  • Aisance en anglais

Atouts

  • Expérience dans Unity
  • Bonne connaissance du français
  • Un bon souci de l’optimisation des FX au niveau performance et les connaissances requises.
